All of the prison yards I've been on have always had an eerie atmosphere to them. It seemed to me that all of the inmates were just children in grown men's bodies... they are all on timeout for something they did wrong. So I added some playground equipment in the panel scenes for the inmates to play on.
Shown on the top row of the egg are hands gesturing sign language. These images are always seen on the yard. The sign language used by inmates are not the standard sign language we know of. The meanings have been altered to mean something else. What that meaning is... no one knows but the inmates that created the language.
Surrounding each circular panel are octopus. On several of my eggs are octopus. The tentacles represent being caught up in the loop of the prison system.
On the bottom row are feathers. Birds use their feathers for lift... for flight. Once a bird loses its feathers, that feather... like the inmate... no longer grows. No longer can fly. - Gil Batle
